How To Fix The Sidebar Shifting Error In A Website?

While working with the WordPress platform you may get few problems with your website. There are some cases in which people face sidebar shifting error in their website. There is nothing wrong with your website or the CMS. There are few things to check for solving this error.
In this tutorial, I am going to guide you about the causes and solutions for them. As you, all know that when we talk about such type of problems then the design of your website is considered as first. You need to check the HTML and CSS of your website theme.
Know And Fix The Sidebar Shifting Problem
Basically, the sidebar of your website can shift downward the content. Another case may be of shifting the sidebar to upward and the content section to the toward position. Such kind of problem occurs due to the wrong coding.
The design of the website is mainly based on HTML and CSS. You can handle the position of your sidebar, header, content, footer and more using CSS. The base is created using HTML and the shape is given by using CSS.
Reasons And Fixing Of The Sidebar Shifting Error
1# The possible reason is that you have an extra division tag opened or closed. Let me show you an example:

In this code, the last division code is an extra opened tag. This may cause the sidebar of your website to shift downward.
Another reason may be any change in the HTML of your website. When you add any new plugin then it may affect the design of your website. So, make sure that you choose a plugin very carefully. There are many things you should check before adding a new plugin and theme.
2# Another reason may be the space of the theme you are using for your website. Suppose the width of the theme is 1024px and width of the content and the sidebar is 700px and 300px respectively. The required 24px is the margin area.
In this case, if the width is not fixed according to the total width then sidebar shifting error will be showing to you. For solving this problem you have to set the width with proper dimensions. Don’t exceed the width of the sidebar. Like if you change the width of the sidebar from 300px to 400px then it will not appear in its right place. The sidebar will shift downward. It is because

3# The floating tag may also create a problem with the sidebar. According to the design of your theme, always use the float: left, float:right.

Hey Ravi,
I don’t believe I’ve ever run across this issue. I’m not surprised though that perhaps some themes might be a little weird and cause problems with the sidebar. Luckily I’ve only worked with two over the past six years and resizing the sidebar was super easy, yay!!!
I have to tell you Ravi, you’re one super smart guy. I know I don’t get by here near enough and I apologize for that but I also know if I ever need help with my blog that you’re the guy I need to ask.
I’ll be sure to share this post as well because we all need that “go to guy” to help us with WordPress or our themes seems to give us issues.

The problem of shifting the sidebar isn’t in all the themes. But you know when you try to design the theme according to you then sometimes the dimensions get messy. People should know what can be the fault.

If you look at my blog you would notice that I am facing this problem right now; I just converted my blog from three column to two column but it is still showing the space of the column which I have finished.

The problem you have encountered is also the crucial one. Sometimes, when you adjust the columns and add an extra one then the design of the website may fluctuate. You should check the dimensions of the columns according to the total width of the theme.
